Good afternoon Vicki;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. As many campgrounds are located at the beach or riverside, you have many options from tip to tip. Personally speaking, three of my favourite campgrounds are as follows:

  • Somers by the Beach in eastern PEI is a great family-run campground with the option of camp cabins. This operation is very popular so you must book well in advance.
  • Twin Shores is one of PEI's largest campgrounds with a beautiful white sand beach in the Green Gables Shore region outside of Kensington.
  • Cedar Dunes in western PEI is situated on the south side of the Island. The provincial park is next door to West Point Lighthouse. A great area for exploring

You can search TourismPEI.com/Where-to-Stay by CAMPGROUND, ARRIVAL MONTH and BEACH WITHIN 200 METRES using advanced search to see all of the options. Be be sure to take note of dates of operation at the top of the listing as each is different.

I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Enjoy your camping vacation!
