Hello Eric,

Thank you for your questions to Ask an Islander.

I am happy to hear you are planning a trip to Prince Edward Island in May! By the time Spring rolls around, the snow melts, flowers begin to bloom, grass comes alive, and trees blossom. Temperatures are quite mild, ranging from 8 to 22 degrees Celsius (46 to 71 degrees Fahrenheit).

Islanders love Spring, not only because it kicks off the lobster season, but also because there are so many exciting festivals and events that take place. No matter the time of year, there is always something exciting to explore from tip-to-tip across Prince Edward Island. You may find this blog of exciting things to do in Spring on our tourism website helpful in your planning to Prince Edward Island.

If you are coming for a lobster feast, there is no shortage of fresh lobster on the Island! In previous years, Fisherman's Wharf Lobster Suppers have opened in early May. The PEI Setting Day Culinary Festival also takes place early May, which is a fun way to celebrate lobster and the fishers who provide it. Our options for delicious food and different restaurants are endless! Although we are famous for our fresh seafood, I am very confident you will find other delicious food options all across Prince Edward Island as well! If you enjoy local produce, food and art, there are Farmer's Markets that occur in Charlottetown and Summerside throughout May as well.

Our tourism website has a 'Festival and Events' page which displays different music and entertainment in different areas across Prince Edward Island. The Buzz PEI is another great resource for different music and things to do for your stay in Prince Edward Island. Once you arrive to Prince Edward Island, please feel free to pop-in to one of our visitor information centres for further ideas and planning for your stay.

I hope this information helps with your planning to Prince Edward Island. If you are interested in receiving the 2025 visitors guide and map of Prince Edward Island to assist further with your planning, please do not hesitate to contact us

Kind regards,
Keira
