Hello...I'm wondering what the WiFi and cell service is like on the Island?

Hi Colleen,

Thank you for contacting Ask An Islander.

Wifi is available in most public restaurants and businesses. Also, most accommodations provide wifi as one of their amenities.

For cell service, cities and towns usually have better connections. Some of the rural areas that are more remote can offer limited to no service. However, the majority of the Island is well connected and some locals even use wifi calling. Futhermore, as of 2024 data from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission shows about 60 per cent of Islanders have access to 5G cellular networks, but rural P.E.I. is still covered predominantly by 4G or even 3G service.

Have a great day,

Jonah
