Hi We will be in PEI at the end of June for 2 nights...we will drive and take the bridge ...are there any beaches with sea glass close to the bridge and also hotels or motels not too far from the bridge ? Thanks!

Hello Rachelle,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.
June is a beautiful time to come to PEI. It is quieter than August and July but still offers beautiful weather. It is also when our lupin flowers begin to bloom.
For sea glass hunting, my personal favourite beaches are any red sand beach. This is perfect because the Confederation Bridge lands on our south shore which is where you'll find some of the best red sand beaches. One little hidden gem is the small beach you see to the left when you get off of the bridge. It's a beautiful red sand beach with a stunning view of the bridge. You would be able to do lots of beach combing there. It is located at the end of Beach Road in Borden- Carelton.
You can find a motel right in Borden-Carlton about five minutes from the bridge called The Carelton Motel. However, Just 20 minutes from the bridge is our second biggest city. You would be able to find a few motels and hotels there. The Microtel Inn & Suites, The Shine Motel, and The Quality Inn and Suites would all be good options in the Summerside area. In Summerside, you will also find the Linkletter provincial park which has a wonderful red sand beach for sea glass combing.
About 20 minutes in the opposite direction from the bridge is a little village called Victoria by the Sea. This walkable village is filled with little artisan shops and restaurants. The OH Victoria Hotel is located in Victoria by the Sea and would be a great option if you're looking to stay in a cute quieter village!
I hope you find lots of sea glass in your visit!
Take care,
Taylor
