If we wanted to stay in one spot for about 3 days to see the Island, what would be the best place (city) to stay? We will have our own car.

Good morning from Prince Edward Island,
Thank you for your inquiry to Ask an Islander. I would recommend staying in our Red Sands Shore region where you can enjoy the warmest ocean waters north of Virginia or Green Gables Shore if you are interested in attractions for children and golf. Be sure to check our performances at Victoria Playhouse and Watermark Theatre. You can easily spend a day or two sightseeing in this central part of the province.
From either region, the drive to our capital city of Charlottetown is short at only 20-30 minutes. Spend a day in Charlottetown taking in the sights and sounds. You'll hear live music at every turn and restaurants to suit every appetite.
Day three could be spent exploring either our North Cape Coastal Drive or Points East Coastal. Both regions offer spectacular beaches and endless lighthouses. If you plan to travel to Nova Scotia by ferry, the latter is a good option.
While you are visiting, be sure to check out the festivals and events happening every day of the week.
If you haven't done so already, download our 2023 visitor’s guide or pick up a hard copy when you arrive at the airport or any Visitor Information Centre. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!
Have a fabulous vacation! Thank you for choosing Prince Edward Island.
