Is the island worth visiting in September?

Hello Ann,
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander.
September is a fantastic month to visit Prince Edward Island! The days are still lovely and warm, the evenings cool down a bit, the fall lobster season is in full swing and harvest season is upon us.
The PEI International Shellfish Festival happens in September, from the 19th - 22nd. This festival brings together the freshest shellfish, top culinary talents, and East Coast entertainment. The end of September welcomes the Fall Flavours Food and Drink Festival with events starting on the 26th. It is a three-week celebration of the best local food and drink on Canada’s Food Island. You could take part in the Victorian Harvest Feast at Orwell Corner Historic Village where you'll use traditional methods to harvest vegetables, participate in making a boiled dinner and bake some bannock!
There are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy live music in September. The Sommo Festival is on the 13th and 14th and the Goolaholla Festival hosted by the East Pointers is happening later in the month, September 27th and 28th. Ceilidhs are still on the go, Anne & Gilbert, the Musical is still on stage at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall and the Historic St. Mary's Church is presenting “Sundown: The Songs of Lightfoot,” a concert paying homage to the timeless genius of the late songwriter himself.
September is a good time for hiking the Confederation Trail, The Island Walk or some of our other stunning trails! The weather is perfect for long walks on the beach and some people are still swimming in September. Take a drive down one of our Scenic Heritage Roads, visit some lighthouses, have a spa day at Mysa Nordic Spa, visit Green Gables Heritage Place and Anne of Green Gables Museum who are both open until late October.
Spend a day or two in our capital city Charlottetown. Tour the historical city with Heritage Players and Historic Walking Tours or grab a map from the Visitor Information Centre and enjoy a self-guided tour. Visit Victoria Row, Beaconsfield Historic House, Founders Food Hall and Market, stroll the boardwalk visit some galleries and shops. I could go on and on!
Why wouldn't you visit PEI in September? We hope to see you soon!
