Is there whale watching ? Is there tide pools or fossil hunting? How is the beach combing and surf watching?

Thank you for your questions! Prince Edward Island has pilot whales, minke whales, right whales, and even some humpbacks. These elusive creatures are best seen from a boat out at sea. There is a charter company that runs out of North Lake Harbour that offers a Whales and Seals tour. MacNeill's Tuna and Deep-Sea Fishing Charters is an amazing experience. Although there is no guarantee that you will see whales, you will certainly have fun trying! 

Yes, at low tide whether you're on the north side of the Island or on the south side you will find tidal pools. Places like Canoe Cove Beach or Arygle Shore Provincial Park are famous for their red sand flats and shallow tidal pools. At low tide you can walk and explore for great distances. Souris Beach located in the Points East Coastal Drive region is popular for sea glass hunting. 

PEI's soft sandstone isn't great for preserving fossils but they are here. There have been some pretty amazing finds over the years. Surf conditions in PEI vary, with the north shore generally offering the best waves, particularly during windy days with northerly winds. Summer months typically have fewer really rough days compared to the shoulder seasons in the spring and fall. Keep an eye on beach and surf conditions at Beach Reports & Beach Safety.
