Hi Laura,

Greetings from PEI and thank you for reaching out on Ask An Islander.

You’ll love playing with Beach Goats – I’m sure this will be a memorable holiday experience. There are lots of other authentic Island experiences in the area – below are some of our top recommendations:

·     People of all ages enjoy the alpaca farm tour at Green Gable Alpacas. If you’re a knitter/crafter, be sure to check out their selection of custom milled and hand-dyed alpaca yarns; they also sell socks, one-of-a-kind gifts and more.

·     The Bottle Houses in Cap-Egmont are a collection of structures made of over 25,000 recycled bottles. Established in 1980, it’s one of PEI’s most beloved attractions.

·     You’ll have fun interacting with animals and learning about farm life at Whispering Hope Farm in Ellerslie.

·     The Canadian Potato Museum in O’Leary is a must-see (be sure to try the seaweed pie at the restaurant: an angel food cake base with a layer of Irish moss filling topped with strawberry or blueberry fruit sauce and whipped topping – it’s heavenly!).

·     For an Acadian experience, take in a live musical event at the Village Musical Acadien in Abram-Village. There’s also a restaurant where you can enjoy a traditional Acadian meal, and an art gallery.

·     As for other places to eat, check out Kenny's Restaurant & Dairy Bar on Ellerslie Road, where customers enjoy delicious food indoors or outdoors (they have a zip line!). For frozen treats, check out Dairy Royal in O’Leary or the historic Holman’s Ice Cream Parlour in Summerside.

·     Finally, for places to stay, friends recommend the tranquil Briarwood Coastal Cottages in Alberton. The West Point Lighthouse offers one of the most unique lighthouse experiences on the Island, because you can actually sleep there – in the tower itself, or in the connected inn.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have more questions, be sure to reach out again.

Bon voyage!

Nicole
