My daughter and I are driving up from NS November 9-13. What do you suggest we visit?

Good morning from Prince Edward Island,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander about your visit in November. If you are interested in Christmas crafts, the Three Oaks Craft Fair is the place to be on November 11 & 12 with a second one nearby at Kool Breeze Farms on November 11. Plan to have dinner in Summerside at Brothers Two or Evermoore with ice cream to follow at Holman's. If you are more interested in take-out, PEI Roti is awesome. My teenage daughters and I ordered from there last week and it was delicious. On Saturday, visit the Farmers Market and book tickets for Still the One: The Shania Twain Tribute Experience. The Loyalist Country Inn across the street offers a great fall package and is walking distance to many attractions.

From Summerside, travel east via route #1 with plans to drive a scenic heritage road in our Red Sands Shore region.

I am unsure of the age of your daughter. Regardless of age, a visit to Island Hill Farm in Hampshire is a chance to snuggle goats and other animals. Nearby, have hours of fun playing pinball at Seven's Pinballorama in Cornwall. Stop at COWS and other shops at the Milky Way on the way into Charlottetown for some shopping and dining.

On a fine day, you could rent bikes from MacQueens, Rising Tide or Outer Limit Sports and cycle a portion of the Confederation Trail.

In Charlottetown, the Farmers Market is the place to be on Saturday morning. On other days, visit Founder's Hall and Market (below). The Eckhart in the City Scavenger Hunt is a great way to learn about the many historic spots of the capital city on foot. Be sure to stop to see one of the newest additions to the downtown, the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre. There are also two board game cafes downtown and the Pony Boat Social Club as other options. And finally, you can enjoy live music at any number of downtown venues.

My last suggestion is a day of self-care at the Mysa Nordic Spa in St. Peters Bay. Plan to also hike at the PEI National Park - Greenwich (pictured below) if you decide to visit this area. There's also a kitchen party at the Fiddling Fisherman Lookout on Friday nights. Souris is 25 minutes from St. Peters Bay.

Not sure if you'll come or go via Northumberland Ferries via Pictou. Just so you know, the toll for the bridge or ferry is paid only when you leave PEI. Be sure to stop at the Visitor Information Centre in Borden-Carleton or Wood Islands to pick up a highway map and ask any questions you may have as you arrive.

You can search places to stay by region, type and arrival date. Advance reservations are recommended.

Have a fabulous vacation!

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
