Suggestions for the best value/self-catering 1- or 2-bedroom cottages during the fall season for visiting lighthouses and Anne of Green Gables places?

Hello Judy,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. If you're looking to visit lighthouses and Anne of Green Gables sites, I would suggest looking in the Green Gables Shore region of Prince Edward Island. This region is fairly centrally located and you can easily explore east or west from there and still make it back to your accommodation by evening.

Most of the Anne sites are within Green Gables Shore and the majority of the lighthouses that you can visit and tour are located in the Points East Coastal Drive region which is east of there. There are many more lighthouses scattered all across the island, most of them are accessible to visit and view from the outside.

The Tourism Prince Edward Island website has a great search tool when looking for accommodations. Under the tab "Where to Stay", you can pick the region you'd like to stay in, the type of accommodation that you're looking for and the month of arrival. This will populate a list of properties for you to choose from. Most of them will have a "book now" button that will direct you to their booking website and some you will have to contact directly to book.

Here are a few for you to get you started!

Fairway Cottages is located in Cavendish. Close to the PEI National Park and the Anne sites. I've stayed here a few times and really enjoyed it!

Hidden Acres Cottages is also located in Cavendish and is open until late October.

If you're looking for something a little more private, you could try Lupin Lane. It is located in Brackley Beach which is just at the other end of the PEI National Park

Have fun planning!
