Where is the best red sandy beach? And what are some top things to do while there ?

Thanks for your question about red sand beaches on PEI. 

There are so many excellent ones to choose from!  Of course, most of the white sand beaches are on the north shore of PEI. The red sand beaches are generally on the south coast. 

One of our favourites is the Canoe Cove Beach which is located between Rice Point and Argyle Shore.  The beach is next to Lloyd Enman Memorial Park which has change rooms and canteen facilities.  There is also a playground for kids.  There is no admission fee. 

The water is warm on the south coast and this beautiful red sand beach is a favourite spot for swimming.  Check out the plentiful little hermit crabs which scamper along the beach and follow the rising tide.
