We are in P.E.I for 1 week and would like to know what area would be best to stay to travel around from.

Hello Debbie,

Thank you for contacting Ask an Islander. I'm glad to hear that you are interested in staying on our beautiful Island.

When you're staying for one week and require a location that contains easy access to travel around to different parts of the Island, I would suggest staying somewhere central. Specifically, anywhere in either the Green Gables Shore Region or the Red Sands Shore Region. These are the central areas of the Island.

If you stay central, you'll be able to access both the North Cape Coastal Drive Region and the Points East Coastal Drive Region easily. You'll also be within a respectable proximity to both Charlottetown, Summerside, and Cavendish, if you stay somewhere in the middle area of the Island. If you were to stay somewhere far up west, or far east, then it would be a longer journey to reach certain locations. When you are centralized, you can easily reach a variety of locations within similar timeframes.

For a guide to accommodations, please consult our Where-to-Stay Page. You are able to filter by region and accommodation type. There are many cottages and hotels operating in the Green Gables Shore Region, all relatively close to beaches, history, golf courses, and trails! Our tourism website also contains a map of the Island.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out.

Best,

Bret
