We’re on the north shore today. We love arts and craft shops. Just been to Dunes and looking for other options. Pottery, woodworking, photography, jewelry etc. any hidden gems you know of?

Hello Lisa,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

I love shopping on the North Shore. I hope you found Fox, just up the road and across from the Dunes! Brackley Bay Oyster Company have a few cute shops and artisans there in that little area.

I also love taking a quick trip for the Rte 6 to The Great Canadian Soap Company. On your way there, say hello to Norm & Roxanne. Local celebrities!

As you are on the 6, you might as well make a trip to Lilacs and Lanterns, 2535 Winsle Rd., Oyster Bed. Keep on the 6, heading towards Rustico and stop and see Hutchinson Pottery. Pottery Mugs are my weakness! Continue on to Gaudreau Fine Woodworking and Fine Crafts Gallery. Karen Gallant Art Gallery in Rustico, beside Gallants Country Food Market and Gas.

Then, of course, you are near Rustico with lots of little shops and New Glasgow with the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, the Toy Factory and a few more options.

Check out other places on the PEI Arts & Heritage Trail.

Enjoy your day,

Erin Davis
