Where can we go clam digging with a five year-old that's not too from Belle River?

Good morning Donna;
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander about clam digging. Stewart Point is a beautiful beach located in Belle River. At low tide you will be sure to find some holes. Have your shovel and bucket handy as they clams can move quickly. See location at https://maps.app.goo.gl/pV6vjR2TXECYJT557.
I must mention there are minimum size limits that must be considered for softshell clams (50 mm), bar clams (102 mm) and quahogs (50 mm). If your
clam is the right size, place it in a bucket of salt water. If not, put it back into the hole you dug and watch it quickly bury itself. Please respect that the daily catch limit for all species is 100 per person in total. Find more detail at Digging for Clams.
Hope you have a wonderful time clam digging and exploring the beach!
