Hey Maksym!

Thank you for reaching out on Ask An Islander. hope you’re well and thanks for sending this question through!

Don’t mind me but let me rephrase your question slightly to give you a better answer - if you’re looking for the best seafood and experience, the price tag can be a little higher (but not always!) and I also find that most seafood around here is a good deal - not many things are cheap these days, but you can definitely find good value here!

One of my favourite spots for seafood is the North Shore Canteen in French River. Beautiful area, very picturesque, and Chef Alex and his team handle seafood with some of the greatest care on the Island. His menu is very seasonal and changes weekly sometimes, but always lots of seafood available.

For value, I’d highly recommend checking out the seafood shacks around the Island - The Seafood Shack in Morell has great food at a very reasonable price. Another very well known spot is The Olde Dublin Pub in Charlottetown - they have $1 oysters every day there for Happy Hour. They are smaller oysters but the deal can’t be beat.

Another great option would be to buy some seafood from one of the sellers that park in Charlottetown at random parking lots to sell their fish - and have a barbecue where you’re staying. These locations can be random but if you’re driving around Charlottetown, especially on Saturdays, you can usually see a few of them. Usually selling lobsters, fish and sometimes mussels/oysters. A bit of a hidden gem for you to try and find!

I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Al Douglas
