Where is the best place to go clam digging on the island without having to swim out to do it

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. The south side of the island is popular for clam digging. Victoria, Pinette, Tea Hill, and Maximeville are some favourite spots. Low tide is the best time to go and you shouldn't have to swim to get soft shell clams. Here is a tide chart you can use to determine when to go.

Visit the Department of Fisheries and Oceans webpage 'What do I need to know before harvesting shellfish' before you head out for size and catch regulations.

Have fun!
