I am planning a trip near the beginning of May. Charlottetown is one of the areas that I am looking at going to. What kind things are there to do/see on the island? I want la relaxing holiday with some sightseeing and experience of island living

Greetings Aaron,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander!
I am glad you are interested in the Island. P.E.I. is a beautiful province containing fantastic sights and treasures to discover. Charlottetown is a great choice, considering it is the province's capital city and the most urban area. The city is brimming with history, restaurants, culture, and events. This site is an elaborative guide for activities and festivals to explore in the Charlottetown region. Charlottetown also often offers local walking tours, tour guides, historical tours, and other adventures.
Seeing as you are also looking for relaxation, stepping away from Charlottetown and enjoying the rural landscapes of the Island is a must. In the Points East Coastal Drive region of the province, there are over 50 beaches. The Souris area is known for containing sea glass along the shore, and Panmure Island is a small piece of land with red sand on one side and white sand on the other. The commute would require seven hours of driving without stopping to enjoy a scenic drive around the province's Eastern region. The picturesque coastal drive is beautiful, and I highly recommend it. The Eastern region also contains the small towns of Montague and Georgetown.
The Green Gables Shore region is another fantastic province area providing beautiful sights. The Anne of Green Gables history is located near Cavendish in this region. Cavendish contains a stunning National Park with a relaxing white sand beach. To drive along the entirety of the scenic coastal drive of Green Gables Shore, the commute requires roughly four to five hours without stopping. Meanwhile, Red Sands Shore is located beneath Green Gables Shore and contains beautiful red sand beaches, lighthouses, and scenic back roads.
North Cape Coastal Drive, the province's Western region, is roughly a seven-hour drive along the coast without stopping. The beaches contain red shores, and the tallest lighthouse on the Island, West Point Lighthouse, is in the region. The Canadian Potato Museum is also in the area. Summerside, the other city in the province, is a small community with a small-town feel. There is delicious ice cream, fantastic restaurants, and walking trails to explore.
I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay on the Island! Hope to see you in May!
All the best,
Bret MacCaull
