I have one night and one day until 3 pm in Charlottetown...recommendations to experience Island life as a resident ... what is the one thing I am not to leave without trying, seeing or experiencing ??

Hello Rayna,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.
We’re thrilled that you’ll be spending just over a day here on the island in beautiful Charlottetown!
As a local, one thing I always recommend is simply taking the time to explore the city of Charlottetown itself. Walking through the lovely streets lined with heritage buildings and taking in the scenic waterfront views gives you a real sense of what it’s like to live here. It’s the perfect way to experience the heart and soul of Charlottetown.
Not far from Charlottetown is the Bonshaw trail system, a popular spot for Island residents. The trails offer a peaceful walk through nature and are a great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you enjoy being outside, Bonshaw is a place worth visiting and may inspire you to see more of the Island’s nature.
The South Shore beaches also have a way of making visitors feel right at home. The red sand and red cliffs give these beaches their unique character. As a local, one of my favorite things to do there is hunt for sea glass and go beachcombing. Canoe Cove and Argyle Shore are just a few great beaches in that area.
Another great authentic experience is our seafood. There is truly nothing like the island's lobsters and oysters.
While everyone has their own idea of what makes the Island feel authentic, I recommend visiting the Authentic Experiences page on our website. These experiences are created by locals who are passionate about sharing the true spirit of the Island with visitors.
We hope you get the chance to experience the Island like a true local this summer!
Take care,
Taylor
