Spending the day in port from a cruise ship. Is there a “must do” option that would bypass the traditional shore excursions? We are looking for history, scenery, and an authentic day. Not food, high adventure. Any thoughts?

Hi Anita,
One of my favourite recommendations is to either find a rental car (Turo has also been great on the Island this season!) or hire a car/driver (a few of the taxi companies offer this service) and to drive yourself along the north shore coastal route - my particular favourite being the route from Rustico along the shoreline through to Cavendish, and then from Stanley Bridge along the way to Cape Tryon and beyond - Cape Tryon is an incredible spot with 100’ cliffs and wild views! Great beaches in this area as well - and close enough that you can easily do the whole route, spend an hour or two exploring the beaches and cliffs, and getting back to the port in time. That would be my must-do option if you’re able to arrange a vehicle for it!
Hope that helps!
