If you cannot get on one of the tours, renting a car would be an ideal way to see some of the island. With the time you have, traveling the Central Coastal Drive will be ideal, you can see the red and then white beaches, plus Anne of Green Gables, the National Park, New Glasgow, North Rustico and Victoria by the Sea. The Central drive is 4 hours without stopping, so it will fill up your day!
