what month is the best for lobster festivals/dinners

Hey Julia!
Thanks for sending through this question!
Great question - there are lots of shellfish related events on PEI but there are a few big ones to consider. First off - there are two lobster seasons on PEI - one that starts in early May and ends at the finish of June, and the other runs from late August until October. During those times you can find the absolute freshest lobster around, but if you happen to be here between June and August, they are still just as fresh as most places hold their lobsters in saltwater tanks until they’re ready to buy.
For lobster festivals and events, the biggest one would be the Summerside Lobster Carnival. That runs July 11th-13th this year.
THere’s also the Village Feast in Souris, hosted by Chef Michael Smith - that happens July 7th.
For lobster dinners, my favourite to go to is the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers - a very classic island experience with all the fixings. Another great spot is Fisherman’s Wharf in Rustico - same style of dinner! Highly recommend making reservations for either of those spots!
I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!
Hope that helps!

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
