When is the best time to visit the Island? Would you recommend a visitor to stay in Charlottetown or Cavendish? I enjoy nature, walks and local food.

Both summer or autumn are lovely seasons to visit Prince Edward Island. If you prefer a quieter pace, September could be considered as an option. The weather tends to be pleasant while many attractions and sites remain open during this time.

Both Charlottetown or Cavendish are excellent locations to stay; however, to truly appreciate local food experience, Charlottetown may be the spot. During September, there is the PEI International Shellfish Festival and the Fall Flavours culinary experience. There are many opportunities for walking including the breathtaking boardwalk, vibrant waterfront, and a relaxing stroll through the historic downtown.

Cavendish is about 40 minutes away from Charlottetown and you can enjoy a hike along one of the many scenic trails of the PEI National Park or explore miles of beautiful beaches as well as an opportunity to enjoy a delicious lobster supper in New Glasgow or North Rustico.

The Island has a network of nature trails including Strathgartney and Bonshaw Hills near Charlottetown, the Confederation Trail and a series of scenic heritage roads offering a combined walking and nature experience.
