Hi Colin,

Thank you for contacting Ask An Islander.

Here are some suggestions for places to launch your kayak:

Souris Beach Gateway Park: Souris Beach Gateway Park welcomes you to stroll the boardwalk, dip your feet in the Northumberland Strait, search for seaglass and find the perfect trinket, all while enjoying the local cuisine. The Gateway Park features shops, refreshments, a playground, washrooms, shower, day park with picnic tables, gazebo, and plenty of daytime parking for your RV’s. All facilities are wheelchair accessible.

Naufrage: The operators of the Naufrage Snack Shack run "East Coast Paddle Adventures" out of this harbour so there is access points to launch and explore the local river. The Snack Shack is worth the drive with outdoor seating, a terrific view, great prices, and daily specials.

St. Peter's Bay: In beautiful St. Peter's Bay there is a self serve boat launch. Here you can kayak the tranquil waters and as an added bonus experience an unforgettable sunset!

Victoria-by-the-Sea: Victoria By the Sea is a quaint little town with a beautiful red sand beach. Here you can launch your kayak and explore the marine wonders of the area.

Furthermore, if you're looking for companies that do kayak rentals, here are some suggestions:

In Morell, Bayside Recreation offers rentals that include kayaks and canoes. In Charlottetown, Explore More Watersports offers everything from kayak rentals to waterskiing. In Victoria By the Sea, By the Sea Kayaking lets you explore the Island's coastal bays and inlets. They offer daily interpretive tours from Victoria-by-the-Sea by reservation only. For further rental options please visit the "Paddling & Water Sports" section of our Tourism PEI website.

Have a great day,

Jonah
