Green Gables Shore: Family Vacation Ideas
Here's just a small sample of the many things to see and do in Green Gables Shore.
Anyone who has read novels by L. M. Montgomery knows why the north shore of the Island has earned the name Green Gables Shore. Cavendish and the surrounding communities served as the fodder for Montgomery’s vivid imagination, and are a must-see for anyone who is a fan of PEI’s favourite redhead, Anne of Green Gables. Visit Green Gables Heritage Place, which inspired the books and other sites that were dear to Montgomery’s heart: the Anne of Green Gables Museum in Park Corner, her birthplace in New London and Cavendish Beach.

If attractions and amusement parks are your thing, Cavendish is the place to be for your family. Sandspit Amusement Park, Shining Waters Family Fun Park and Yippee’s Playcade will get you moving and smiling. These are great spots for a mix of older and younger children. From roller coasters and waterslides, to wading pools and mini golf, there’s something for all ages.
Beyond Cavendish, you’ll find attractions like The Toy Factory and the Butterfly House at Prince Edward Island Preserve Co. in New Glasgow. In Stanley Bridge, visit with the animals at Alexander & Darlene's Farm Haven and learn about the local eco-system at Carr's Wildlife Centre.
If you’re looking to indulge in seafood and other local flavours, dine at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers or Fisherman's Wharf.
Finish your day with a ceilidh at the Stanley Bridge Hall.
