Good morning! This program is a great idea. I will be visiting in mid August for the first time, staying just for a few days in Charlottetown. Is there a bus company you'd recommend for a day trip to Cavendish beach and to see the Anne of Green Gables tourism site? Also where would I go for a kitchen ceilidh in Charlottetown ? Thanks!

Hello Ann,

We think so as well!  Nothing better than hearing the wonderful suggestions of a true Islander!! Especially being your first time with the chance to fall in love with this absolutely stunning Island. I am sure it will leave you wanting more and wanting to come back!

Staying in Charlottetown is perfect for a shorter stay. There is so much to do there as well that will keep you finding all kinds of local treasures. Throughout the city, there are a number of quaint little freshly roasted coffee shops and even restaurants where you can have a specialty drink up on a rooftop patio. Victoria Row is a street that is blocked off to traffic and is lined with restaurants and shops to relax and listen to some local music. If it is history that you seek, then Charlottetown, the Birthplace of Confederation, is perfect for you. With beautiful old churches, buildings and homes you will feel as though you walk into a different time of history.

We have several tour companies that can take you to Green Gables Shore such as Duncan’ Island Tours (Target Tours) and PEI Guide and Drive Service . If it is the bus type of tour you really want we have Prince Edward Island Tours that work with Gray Line bus. For ceilidhs, every Friday at 8 pm there is a ceilidh held at the Benevolent Irish Society. The hall is located on North River Road. You can see a full list of ceilidhs and events by visiting

Enjoy your first visit to the Island!
