Hello! Would love some recommendations for family camping with a 3 yo, ideally with nearby access to potable water and facilities. Thank you in advance!

Hi Karen,
Thank you for reaching out on Ask An Islander. The Island is a popular destination for campers. Here, you’ll find clean sites nestled in the woods and/or near the beach, with memorable activities for little ones to enjoy. My friends’ with kids recommend the following campgrounds for families:
· Twin Shores Camping Area is located in Darnley, and is very popular with families. They have kids crafts everyday, an excellent playground and an arcade. People especially love the nearby beach. One friend pointed out that you can stay there for an entire week without leaving, because everything you need is there, and there’s so much to do!
· Marco Polo Land in Cavendish was named the best Canadian Campground of 2021 by the National Camping and RV Council. It’s a long-time favourite destination for campers, particularly because it has lots of fun activities for kids, including an amazing water park.
· Somers by the Beach Campground in Murray Harbour is a small, clean family campground with a pool and a beach. It’s also next to Kings Castle Provincial Park, which is well-loved by families (it’s the kind of place that will take you back to your own childhood, with play structures that are perfect for wild adventures and magical storybook characters hidden in the woods!).
· Holiday Haven in Cornwall has lots of fun activities for kids, including a new pool; they also welcome pets, and even have a fenced in dog park. This is the closest campground to downtown Charlottetown.
· Brudenell River Provincial Park along the Brudenell River has fantastic campsites in the woods. Kids love the playground, and people of all ages enjoy the nearby horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding.
· Cavendish Campground is located inside the PEI National Park in Cavendish. Nearby, you’ll find lots of family-friendly amusement parks and attractions, places to eat - and of course, PEI’s famous National Park beaches!
We’re expecting a very busy summer season, so I strongly recommend booking a campsite in advance. I hope this information is helpful. If you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us again.

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
