What is the best time to come to see fall colors?

Hi Kelly,
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander.
The best time for fall colors is October. If you like hiking or biking, the Confederation Trail is amazing in the fall. You can pick up the trail from different areas of the island. Also depending on where you're staying, you can check out for trail systems in that area.
There are so many beautiful trails to choose from. My favorite is the Bonshaw and Winter River Trails. The colors in the fall are amazing and both run along the river. I love hiking along these two. The fall is much quieter and more relaxing. You can see the rolling hills and farm fields along any trail.
The national parks in Greenwich and Cavendish have beautiful trails that run along the ocean, the smell of the salt air and little cool breeze gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
You can also visit an apple orchard; there's quite a few around the island.
There are also a couple of events happening in October; the Charlottetown Scarecrow Festival and Farm Day in the City, which is an annual celebration that occurs around the time of the main harvest, this year is October 5th . There will be lots of farmers, crafters, artist and more along the main street in downtown Charlottetown. It is a must if you're in the area at that time.
Other events in October are Harvest Hike fest; A hiking event with multiple trails, taking place on October 12th. There are lots of activities and trails to keep you busy. Please check out our fall events online to see all the activities and festivals.
Thank you,
Kay
