If you had to pick one place to walk/hike on each edge of the Island, what would you recommend? Also, best local restaurants? Hoping to hit all edges of the island, so any recommendations welcome!

Hi Morgan
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander with a great question! I love the trails on the edge of the Island. You should check out the North Cape trail up west. It's quite short (3.5 km), but the views are stunning. There's a boardwalk that runs through the Black Marsh, featuring some fascinating marsh vegetation, such as the picture plant, which is quite rare on PEI.
Another good trail is the Boughton River trail in eastern PEI. It's four loops, so you can shorten it or do the full 9 km. We had two work crews in there this week doing trail maintenance, so the trail is in great shape. It's also along the Boughton River estuary , which is stunning at this time of year.
A couple of restaurant suggestions are Fin Folk Food on the north shore. The views from the restaurant are stunning and the food is excellent - large portions, too. I ate there last night with my family, and the food and service were amazing. I'd also recommend the Cork & Cast in Charlottetown or Sea Rocket Oyster House next door. Both are excellent for all sorts of seafood.
Enjoy your hiking and dining in PEI!
