Where would be the best beach to go to for someone that uses a walker and wheelchair and is limited in distance? Thanks.

Answer by:

Hello Dan,

Thank you for your question to Ask An Islander.

I enjoy the Prince Edward Island National Park beaches as they have accessibility options. In Cavendish and Brackley beaches, the mobility aid mats assist people in getting to the harder wet packed sand of the beach. Ideal for walkers and wheelchairs.

Beach chairs are also available, either a sand chair or a floating chair. The Prince Edward Island National Park requests you pre-book at least two days in advance.

Enjoy the white sandy beaches,

Erin Davis
